Emma Barcklow serves as Director of Events DC’s Creative Services Division, building the consumer-facing experience through signature brand content and experiential offerings. As a lifelong maker of many things, Emma was eager to get her foot in the door to the creative world, upon graduating college in 2015. She began a blog for her neighborhood in DC as a tool to get to know her local business community. Her content was shared by the likes of Southern Living Magazine and she began producing content for incredible entrepreneurs and small businesses. One day, work that she produced for a client, Own Your Wonder, attracted interest from an investor and she was hired full-time.
During her tenure developing brand content and experiential offerings for the beauty start-up, they were awarded the 2019 Tory Burch Foundation Fellowship for female entrepreneurship. Emma was also invited to speak at Apple Carnegie Library about storytelling and the future of inclusive beauty. It was then that she met Jinhee Kim, Head of Programming at Apple and soon-to-be Chief Creative Officer at Events DC—the adventure continued! Since then, Emma has developed 12 live events and hundreds of creative projects alongside some of the most talented and passionate people in DC and around the world!
She values creative challenges, supportive colleagues, and laughing whenever possible and appropriate. Beyond work, she makes clothes, writes, rides her bike, and invites people over for s’mores.
